“Once height (measured in inches) is controlled, women have significantly higher IQs than men. Net of height, women score 2.14 points higher on the PPVT. In contrast, each inch in height is worth more than half an IQ point (0.56). A comparison of standardized coefficients shows that the effect of height is more than twice as large as that of sex. Because American men on average are 5 inches taller than American women (5’10” vs. 5’5”), this translates into 2.80 IQ points, overcoming the 2.14-point advantage of wom- en and making men appear more intelligent when height is not controlled.”

They also controlled for sex, race, age, physical attractiveness and health.

As a relatively short man, this is discouraging news.

This is what happens when smart people get some data, run a regression, and try to interpret… overgeneralized, ridiculous conclusions that don’t translate to life in any practical, useful ways. Not that I’m bitter or anything.

I also enjoy this because currently I’m running regressions and making up stuff.

My day is already off to a weird start

1.  I went to hand in Ashlee’s essay to her TA and ended up on the roof. 

2.  Followed to the library by appeared to be the KKK and some angels.  At first I thought they were just wearing white pointy hats, but they had white robes on under their jackets. So my conclusions seem valid and are no way affected by my caffeine/stress induced paranoia

It’s barely 10am and I’ve already eaten all my food I brought thats suppose to last me to 4pm.  Also when I tried to throw my orange peel in the garbage I missed and hit the person beside the garbage can.  He didn’t notice. This is one positive to exam period.  Everyone is too stressed/caffeined to notice or care when you throw garbage at them. 

I was reading over my soil labs, attempting to write my final lab report, and it made my realise why I’m in science.  Lower writing standards.  On most of my methods sections, my teacher made comments like “Good writing” and “one of the best.”  This is a far cry from when my environmental history prof in second year asked me if english was my second language.  In my defence, when I type I often skip words like ‘the’ and ‘to.’  You know the words that help sentances more than a bunch of words.  But I guess in science that makes you seem smarter.  Oh well if my life fails I now know I can write scientific methods really well.  One of the best!
